Strengthening SMC

Right to Education act has given a greater responsibility to all the stakeholders in the child’s education and development. Hence developing School Management Committees is the activity, which has larger significance in sustainability of joint efforts of corporate, implementing NGO and community.. Through SMC meetings, building one to one rapport with the teachers school established trusting relationship with the parents group. Through workshops, URMEE encouraged SMC members to involve in school development process. Some of the SMC members from project schools are indeed taking initiatives for schools development process and gathering support for infrastructural work. For longer sustainability, URMEE prepared SMC booklets to support SMC members to know their role and responsibility.

Parents Involvement

Parents meetings are the easiest way to reach out to the individual child and strengthen the family support for the children’s all round development. URMEE used this platform to increase the parental involvement and stakeholder dialog. Though the response for parental meetings is low, URMEE could organise various sessions for parents on positive discipline, safe and unsafe touch and child safety, the developmental stages of children and changing role of parents during these stages were some of the topics for the parents meeting and awareness sessions.

Women and Health

Women’s health depicts the health of the population and society’s outlook towards women in general. URMEE through their health awareness and women empowerment sessions could contribute in making a difference in the lives of women, the most vulnerable yet very significant sector of our society. Early identification of cancer, anaemia awareness, and importance of diet etc were informative sessions arranged for them. Screening for anatomy of Osteoporosis and bone density was done for community women various health camps. To empower women livelihood skills were given in form of bag making. To provide unwinding opportunities one day picnics were arranged for them and to celebrate the womanhood, women’s day celebration was planned.
